The Laurel Main Street Festival held May 13, 2006. Was a rousing success. The day started with an old fashion “Home Town” parade featuring over 100 participants - High School Bands from around the area, Boy Scout and Girl Scout Troops, Sports Groups, Cheer Leading/Pom-Pom Groups, Fire Trucks, Rescue Squads, Police Departments and much more. The bad weather held off and the crowds were able to enjoy the over 300 vendors lined up on each side of Main Street.

The theme for this year’s festival was “A Community That Cares." After the 2005 hurricane season ravaged the Gulf of Mexico region Laurel, Maryland decided to concentrate its assistance by selecting a specific city and chose Laurel, Mississippi. Learn more about Laurel, Mississippi by visiting their web site at

Laurel, Mississippi's Mayor Melvin Mack was the Grand Marshall for our home town parade. Mayor Mack was accompanied by Councilwoman Willie Evans and former Laurel, Mississippi resident Jarvis Gambrils.

Continuous live entertainment from four stages provided music for everyone.

Lt Govenor Paul Steele honored our festival by announcing the winners of the Parade trophies.
