The Laurel Board of Trade

The Laurel Farmers' Market began in 1996 when the Laurel Board of Trade recognized the need for a fresh vegetables and fruit concession. The market was first set up in Riverfront Park along the Patuxent River at the north end of Avondale Street and resided there for four years.

The Market Coordinator, Mr. Francis Gosman along with the Officers and Directors decided the market would fair better with more visibility and arrangements were made to move it to it current location at the intersection of Main Street and Avondale Street. The Board purchased a 40’ x 40’ blue and white tent, which is put up every year to protect the shoppers and farmers every Thursday from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.. The tent also brings great visibility and attracts attention throughout the market season.

The market is one of the top five markets in the State of Maryland because of the quality of the farmers’ produce and the uniqueness of the market having live music.

The market also supports the Maryland WIC program, (Women, Infants and Children) Supplemental Nutrition Program.

If your are a Maryland local farmer and would like to participate selling your wares, please call our business office, Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 2:00pm.
