The Laurel Main
Street Festival held May 12, 2007. Was a rousing success. The
day started with an old fashion Home Town parade
featuring over 100 participants - Color Guards from around the
area, Boy Scout and Girl Scout Troops, Sports Groups, Cheer Leading/Pom-Pom
Groups, Fire Trucks, Rescue Squads, Police Departments and much
more. The weather could not have been better and the crowds were
able to enjoy the over 340 vendors lined up on each side of Main
Street.
The theme for this years festival was Good Neigbors"
helping to celebrate Fort George G. Meade's 90th anniversary.
Colonel McCready, Ft Meade's Post Commander was the Grand Marshal.
Continuous live entertainment from four stages provided music
for everyone.
And the Food! Oh, it was so wonderful! Everything from funnel
cakes to frozen lemonade, from spicy chicken on a stick to pizza,
from fried rice to tex-mex quesadilla.
Officials estimated the that throughout the day we were visited
by up to 100,000 friends, neighbors and new comers.
We hope all of you had a wonderful time and look forward to seeing
you again next year.
